Principles

Each person has unique prior knowledge, abilities and system of values, as well as family and national background. I believe that the best teaching results are achieved by taking into account all these factors and adapting one’s didactic approach to them.

While fundamental knowledge gives one the ability to deeply understand and overcome new and unexpected challenges, practical knowledge is important for students to be successful at work immediately upon the completion of their studies. To teach a specific person both theory and practice, lectures and seminars need to be accompanied by mentoring on a practical project. Such teaching design makes it possible to notice and correct any mistakes in students’ understanding of the material and in approaching their project assignment.

Furthermore, I try to build a long-term relationship with students, offering them help in professional orientation and during the development of their professional career.

Experience

I have gained rich experience in working with students from all continents at universities in Spain, India, and Germany. I have the experience of mentoring over a hundred undergraduate and master students as well as several doctoral students.

In the field of economics, I have taught game theory, international economics, economic growth and development, statistics and econometrics, as well as a course on the economics of financial crises which I designed by myself. In the field of finance, I have designed and taught a number of courses on corporate finance, such as empirical corporate finance, valuation of companies and startups, as well as valuation of companies for mergers and acquisitions.

I held the position of academic director at the EBS Business School for a number of years. In this position, I was responsible for designing summer programs for undergraduate, master and MBA students from partner universities from North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. At EBS University, I designed and organized a program on the European economy for managers of Chinese companies, who were trained at Fudan University.
